Cenozoic Era

The Cenozoic ("modern life") Era has lasted from 65 million years ago until the present. The Cenozoic is the age of the mammals. It consists of two periods:

the Tertiary - 65 to 1.8 million years ago and,

the Quaternary - 108 million years ago to now.
