West Plains R-VII includes the elementary, middle and high school, within the city of West Plains, and six elementary schools in Howell County: Richards, Fairview, Glenwood, Howell Valley, Junction Hill and South Fork, all serving the West Plains area. 	West Plains schools participate in ArtStream, creating various art projects with water pollution themes: Macroinvertebrate Lunch Movie Nature Journaling and Nature Poetry Critterology and Food Webs
Howell County schools participate in Waterfest every year.		Each year, third grade classes at Richards School create a mural that illustrates a local historical event.
Eyewitness to History Students Interview West Plains Community Elders The Eyewitness to History series was created by West Plains Middle School journalism students for their school newspaper, The Voice of Pride. The series includes interviews with Preacher Roe, Robert Neathery, Bill Virdon and other West Plains elders, talking about a wide range of topics including professional baseball, the Great Depression, World War II, and the Peace Corps.
