Blair Bridge river access is a very busy place on a summer weekend,
as it was on this Saturday morning in August.
Looking downstream from the new Blair Bridge, you can see the concrete
supports from the old low-water bridge.
Patrick is a one-lane, low-water bridge. This part of the river
is within the famous North Fork trout fishing area.
Historical photo: 1967. Patrick Bridge was still wooden planks and
the road was not yet paved.

Althea Spring, just up the hill from Patrick Bridge, is the
23rd largest spring in Missouri. It was named for the daughter of
Dr. Paul Patrick, an early owner of land on the North Fork.
From 1958 to 1977, this area was the residence of Karl Schmidt and
his sister Willa Schmidt. Mr. Schmidt used Althea Spring's flow to
power a domestic power plant which he designed, parts of which still
remain.
