Dawt Mill is an historic old mill on the North Fork. Built in
1897, it has become a popular resort, with a small hotel, restaurant,
canoe rental, swimming, and the old mill itself.
The only water control structure on the North Fork is Dawt Mill
Dam. This is a relatively low structure, less than eight feet
high. Dawt Mill Dam backs water up for about 1/4 mile. The builder
thought making it from an angle would make it stronger. It has lasted
over a century.
The raceway channels water to a turbine which turns a shaft to
grind grain.
Visitors may view a mill grinding demonstration, using water to
power this mill to grind corn.
