Student Writing Prompt
Newspaper
Article
As
a newspaper reporter your job is to stay abreast of the current events
that affect and interest people. The livelihood of many people in the
Ozarks was directly impacted by logging and over-hunting that occurred
in the late 1800's and early 1900s. In the 1930's the Missouri state
government was attempting to solve this problem.
Everywhere
people are talking about the situation and information is contradicting
and confusing. You decide to get the facts and interview government
officials on the cause, effect and proposed solution to this crisis.
After gathering the information you write a newspaper article explaining
these components. You work hard to write a catchy headline to attract
reader's attention. Include specific and accurate data and to keep the
article clear and simple so the average person who reads the article
can understand the situation.
