Communities Mountain Grove Student Showcase

student booklets
An Environmental Biology class is taught by Jeannie Horton at Mountain Grove High School. One aspect of the class is to explore contemporary environmental issues, with a different topic of study for each month.

In January 2001, the class focused on Bryant Creek and its watershed. The Bryant Watershed Atlas was used as a resource for the assignment of developing a picture story about the watershed.

Students visited the Atlas to get ideas for their individual projects, reviewing the content to help in the selection of their topic. They also looked at five of the photo stories on the Atlas as examples of how their finished project could look.

The topics selected included: caves, karst, habitats, native & non-native plants and animals, nonpoint source pollution, forests, towns, and recreational activities.
